Uwe Krupp Returns to Coaching in Germany with EV Landshut

Former national ice hockey coach Uwe Krupp has signed a two-year contract with EV Landshut in the DEL2, aiming to enhance the club's presence in German ice hockey.

Former ice hockey national coach Uwe Krupp is making his return to Germany as the new head coach of second division team EV Landshut. The club announced that Krupp has signed a two-year contract with an option for an additional season.

Michael Imhoff, the chairman of the supervisory board at EV Landshut, described this appointment as a „milestone“ for the team from Lower Bavaria. The team is not necessarily aiming for immediate promotion to the DEL but is focused on a long-term plan.

Krupp expressed his excitement for the role in a video posted on Facebook, stating that he and his wife along with their two children are looking forward to moving to Landshut. He aims to help the club advance and increase its significance in German ice hockey. Landshut is one of the founding clubs of the DEL.

Previously, Krupp played briefly in Landshut during a lockout season in the NHL, appearing in five games with the team. The 59-year-old has twice won the Stanley Cup as a player in the NHL. As a coach, he has led the German national team and has spent several years coaching in the DEL with teams like Kölner Haie and Eisbären Berlin. Last January, he briefly joined HC Lugano in Switzerland.
