Berlin Volleys Secure Ninth Consecutive Championship Title

The Berlin Volleys clinched their ninth consecutive championship title by defeating SVG Lüneburg in the finals. Moritz Reichert played a key role in the decisive match.

The Berlin Volleys have achieved their ninth consecutive championship title. In the third playoff final against SVG Lüneburg, who finished second in the main round, the prominent German volleyball club won decisively with a score of 3:0 (25:12, 25:23, 25:21). Moritz Reichert sealed the victory on the second match point. The Berlin team had previously won the first two matches of the series as well, with scores of 3:0 and 3:1.

In front of 8,553 spectators at the sold-out Max-Schmeling-Halle, the visitors struggled to gain a foothold in the match at the beginning. Thanks to serving streaks from Jake Hanes and Ruben Schott, the Berliners quickly established a lead, first by five points (9:4), and later extending it to twelve points (17:5).

In the second set, the guests improved their service and managed to pull ahead slightly (11:7). However, former Lüneburg player Matthew Knigge, who came off the bench, brought the score to a tie at 16:16 with an ace for the BR Volleys. Ruben Schott then gave the Berlin team a lead at 19:18. The outcome of the set remained uncertain until the end, when a block by Moritz Reichert secured the set for the Berliners.

The narrow loss in the second set did not have a long-lasting effect on the Lower Saxony team, who had reached the championship final for the first time. After quickly falling behind 1:5 in the third set, they began a determined comeback. With a serve from Joscha Kunstmann, they managed to take a 16:14 lead. However, the Berliners responded with a 5-0 run, regaining control of the match and maintaining their trajectory towards victory.
