SSV Jahn Regensburg and Coach Andreas Patz Part Ways Before Season Finale

SSV Jahn Regensburg has parted ways with coach Andreas Patz ahead of the season finale as the team prepares for a new start in 3. Liga.

SSV Jahn Regensburg has announced the immediate departure of head coach Andreas Patz. The club, which has been relegated from the 2. Bundesliga, will appoint assistant coach Munier Raychouni as interim manager for the remaining two matches of the season—one against Karlsruher SC on Sunday and another against SV Darmstadt 98 the following week.

Patz, who initially stepped in as head coach after a heavy loss to 1. FC Nürnberg in October, was promoted to the role on a contract until the end of the season after a brief turnaround in form. However, following the team’s recent performance and a critical evaluation of the season, both Patz and the club’s management mutually agreed to part ways.

Sporting director Achim Beierlorzer stated, „After the away game in Cologne, I had an intensive and honest discussion with Andi Patz. As a result of these talks and a thorough analysis of the season, we decided to go our separate ways.” The team was mathematically relegated after their draw against Cologne last Saturday.

Beierlorzer emphasized the club’s desire to start fresh in the 3. Liga, aiming to tackle upcoming challenges with new energy and a revamped coaching staff. Patz subsequently requested to end his tenure due to personal reasons before the final two matches, and the club has honored this request.
