FC Bayern Munich has called off a planned celebratory trip to Ibiza that was organized by players in the event of winning the title in their away game against RB Leipzig. Max Eberl, Bayern’s sporting director, explained, „We heard about it, spoke with the team, and discussed it openly yesterday. We said: It is not appropriate; the competition is still ongoing. The team understood this, and accordingly: no trip.“ This statement was made shortly before the game in Leipzig during an interview with Sky.
Eberl further emphasized that the cancellation was not a significant issue among the players. „The idea was fine, and discussing it was even better,“ he added.
Before the cancellation, media outlets, including the ‚tz‘, reported that Bayern players were considering flying to the Balearic Island of Ibiza via private jet to celebrate a potential early title victory on Sunday. With a win against RB Leipzig, the Munich team could secure their 34th championship title with two matchdays remaining in the season.
